Fergus, ON… Groves Memorial Community Hospital (GMCH) have enhanced infection control measures for breast screening and are open for business.
“A breast screening exam is your best defense against breast cancer because it can detect the disease in its early stages,” explains Kaush Patel, GMCH Diagnostic Imaging Manager. “Women should know that during the pandemic we continue to operate our screening program and we have implemented infection control measures that support safe cancer screening.”
When patients arrive at GMCH for a mammography exam they can expect the following:
- Screened for COVID-19 symptoms at the entrance of the building
- Provided with surgical mask and hand sanitizer
- To support physical distancing appointments are spaced apart to avoid any patient overlap and allow the technician to clean/sanitize the mammography room after each use
- Healthcare staff wear personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the duration of your visit to ensure your safety
Patients can either self-refer by calling 519-843-2010 ext. 44705 or be referred by their doctor. There is no cost to the patient for the breast screening service.
